Many colleagues are currently working in their home offices. However, there is a lack of opportunities to meet other colleagues in the hallway or kitchen. In our small series, we shift the “floor conversations” into the digital world. Today we ask Stefanie Kodalle who manages the office of the communications team at HZB.

Where are you currently working from and what tasks do you have to complete?

I have set up my workplace in the kitchen at the dining table. I am currently busy drawing up specifications and preparing tenders. I also collect offers and continue the ongoing administrative activities. But I also look after the social media channels for HZB and support the editorial team.

How do you start the day?

Like on normal office days, with a coffee. Then I check my e-mails, structure my working day and get going. Of course, regular communication with colleagues via video or telephone conference is also part of it.

What is the biggest challenge for you at the moment?

I live alone, with my dog, so the lack of direct communication is a real challenge. But I (video)phone very often with colleagues and of course also with family and friends.

And what are you most looking forward to when this time is over?

First of all, I hope that we all survive the corona virus and that as few people as possible are infected with it. I hope that the situation in the hospitals and supermarkets will normalise and that their staff, in addition to being recognised, will finally be paid accordingly.

And personally, I am looking forward to meeting family and friends, sitting in the garden or lying by the lake and enjoying the spring and summer.
